The RISEN Framework Explained

RISEN is Loomi's proprietary framework for creating structured, effective prompts. Each letter represents a crucial component of a well-crafted prompt.

R - Role

Define who the AI should act as. This sets the tone, expertise level, and perspective.

Examples

  • "You are a senior marketing strategist with 15 years of experience"
  • "Act as a patient kindergarten teacher"
  • "You are a technical documentation writer"

Why It Matters

Role-setting helps the AI:

  • Adopt appropriate vocabulary
  • Apply relevant expertise
  • Maintain consistent tone

I - Intent

Clearly state what you want to achieve. Be specific about the outcome.

Good Intent Statements

  • "Create a compelling product description that increases conversions"
  • "Explain this concept so a 10-year-old can understand"
  • "Generate 5 unique headline variations for A/B testing"

Bad Intent Statements

  • "Write something good"
  • "Help me with marketing"
  • "Make content"

S - Structure

Define the format and organization of the output.

Structure Elements

  • Length (word count, paragraphs)
  • Format (bullet points, numbered lists, prose)
  • Sections (headers, subheadings)
  • Style (formal, casual, technical)

Example

6 lines
Structure the response as:
1. Executive Summary (50 words)
2. Key Findings (3-5 bullet points)
3. Recommendations (numbered list)
4. Next Steps (2-3 actionable items)

E - Examples

Provide samples of what you want (or don't want).

Few-Shot Examples

5 lines
Here are examples of the tone I want:

Good: "Transform your workflow with AI-powered automation"
Bad: "Our product uses artificial intelligence for task automation"

Output Examples

5 lines
Format like this:
**Product:** iPhone 15
**Price:** $799
**Key Feature:** 48MP camera system

N - Nuance

Add constraints, preferences, and fine-tuning details.

Nuance Examples

  • "Avoid technical jargon"
  • "Include a call-to-action at the end"
  • "Don't mention competitor products"
  • "Use active voice throughout"

Putting It All Together

Here's a complete RISEN prompt:

19 lines
**Role:** You are a senior UX copywriter specializing in SaaS products.

**Intent:** Write an onboarding email sequence that increases user activation from 30% to 50%.

**Structure:**
- 3 emails
- Each email: subject line + 150-word body
- Include one clear CTA per email

**Examples:**
Subject: "Your first dashboard is waiting ✨"
Body: Short, friendly, action-focused

**Nuance:**
- Use second person ("you")
- Avoid mentioning pricing
- Emoji in subject lines only
- Progressive disclosure of features
